CRUISE SHIP PHOTO ESSAY:

ALBATROS
NIGHT
SAILING
by
Richard H. Wagner
Picture cruise ship Albatros of Phoenix Reisen Cruises
Albatros is a veteran cruise ship serving the German-speaking market.  She is a small ship at 28,078 gross tons, which enables her to enter a wide variety of ports.  In this photo essay, we see Albatros in the Scottish port of Rosyth, near Edinburgh.

It is a late sailing.  Many of Albatros' passengers have been attending the Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo.
With her passengers back aboard, Albatros pulls away from her berth with the help of a tug.

The ship has sleek lines reminiscent of the last generation of ocean liners.  Albatros first entered service in 1973 as the Royal Viking Sea of Royal Viking Lines.  She has had several owners and borne several names since then.  She has been with Phoenix Reisen since 2004.

In order to return to sea, Albatros has to make a 180 degree turn.

Having completed her turn, Albatros releases the tug and makes her way towards the Firth Bridges and out through the Firth of Forth to the North Sea.
