CRUISE SHIP PHOTO ESSAY:

CARNIVAL GLORY
GOES TO SEA
by
Richard H. Wagner
Carnival Glory cruise ship
It is early fall and Carnival Glory is embarking on a cruise to Eastern Canada.  She departs her berth at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal (also known as the Passenger Ship Terminal) and sails down the Hudson River towards the sea.

At the end of the river, the Glory enters into New York's Upper Bay and passes Governor's Island (right).

A moment later, she passes the Statue of Liberty (below),

The Glory takes up position ahead of Queen Mary 2, which is departing on a transatlantic crossing from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (right).
At the exit to the harbor, the Glory passes under the Verrazano Narrow Bridge.

Not long afterwards, the Glory stops so that the pilot boat can pick up the pilot who has guided her out of the harbor.
