Home at sea.

Quantum of the Seas will have 2,090 staterooms, which enable her to accommodate 4,180 guests (double occupancy) or 4,905 guests total.

“On this vessel, we also wanted to take a quantum leap forward in stateroom design,” Mr. Fain explained. “So there are a number of features that really make these staterooms spectacular. Starting with the easiest, they are larger, nine percent larger than on the Oasis class ships which are themselves some of the largest staterooms that we have ever done.”

In addition, “ every stateroom on this vessel has a view.” This does not mean that Quantum will have no inside cabins but rather that each inside cabin will have a “virtual balcony.”

Mr. Goldstein elaborated: “The inside staterooms will have an 80 inch LED projection of what is going on outside. It is going to bring a completely different feeling to the experience.” (Mr. Goldstein continued that this feature is being retro-fitted into existing Royal Caribbean ships. Thus, it will first be installed on Navigator of the Seas when she goes in for her next refit).

“One of the things that we will have [on Quantum] by popular demand is a certain number of studio staterooms for our single travelers, including some with balconies, which I think is a first in the industry.” Quantum will have 12 balcony studios and 16 interior studios. And Mr. Goldstein is correct that balcony studios are an industry first, at least for a major large ship. The studio cabins on Norwegian Epic and the forthcoming Norwegian Breakaway are all interior cabins and those on P&O Cruises' Azura are inside cabins and oceanview cabins.
Royal Loft on the Quantum of the Seas cruise ship
The most luxurious accommodations on Quantum will be two-level lofts and the Royal Loft, with its own private whirlpool, will be the the top-of-the-line loft. (Image courtesy of Royal Caribbean).
Another innovation will be modular family-connected staterooms. “Multi-generational travel is something that we take very seriously. We think it is something that Royal Caribbean International does very well. So we devised a set of rooms which each can stand on their own, with their own doors to the corridor as an interior studio, a junior suite and a standard stateroom. Or because they have connecting doors inside the vestibule, they can be linked into one multi-generational family arrangement, where everybody still has their own space.”

Overall, Mr. Fain noted, the staterooms are “more advanced with a home away from home feeling. We wanted to have a much more residential atmosphere in the staterooms. The staterooms feel much more home-like. I think people will say wow this is comfortable.”
